To make it slightly less complicated and to continue <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slimjimmy.com\/weblog\/archives\/2004\/02\/01\/recurring-keyboard-dream\/\" class=\"unemphasized\">my obsession with Trackpoint keyboards<\/a>, I bought <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slimjimmy.com\/weblog\/images\/french_canadian_spacesaver.jpg\">a French-Canadian SpaceSaver keyboard<\/a> from eBay.  It&#8217;s completely unused, and it&#8217;s one-third the price of the equivalent US English keyboard (which currently isn&#8217;t available on eBay anyway).  I don&#8217;t plan to use it that much, so the slightly unusual key configuration didn&#8217;t seem like a big deal, and I wanted something fairly compact to keep out of the way.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I imagine that French-Canadians must be mutants.  Whereas typical U.S. English keyboards have <kbd>Enter<\/kbd> keys that are about double the width of normal keys, the <kbd>Enter<\/kbd> key on this French-Canadian keyboard is tall instead of wide.  Consequently, there&#8217;s an extra key between <kbd>'<\/kbd> (apostrophe) and <kbd>Enter<\/kbd>, and my pinky finger can&#8217;t reach the <kbd>Enter<\/kbd> key without moving my hand off of the home row.
